Invisalign Treatment – A Clear Alternative to Braces

What is Invisalign Treatment?

Invisalign treatment is for patients who have misaligned teeth or crooked teeth, who would like an alternative to braces. Often our patients feel uncomfortable with the way their teeth look and as adults, wished they would have got teeth braces when they were younger. The idea of wearing a fixed brace may now be unthinkable, so Invisalign treatment is a good alternative to braces, using clear aligners, which can be taken out for short periods if necessary.

At New Life Teeth, we want our patients to look and feel their best, without having to wear visible braces. That is why we recommend Invisalign treatment as an effective way to correct gap teeth or crooked teeth.

How do I get started with Invisalign treatment?

At your consultation for Invisalign, we will take an impression of your teeth using 3D digital scanning technology. This will enable us to show a virtual demonstration of your future smile and a clear comparison of the before and after versions. You will also get the opportunity to ask questions about the Invisalign process and learn about your individual treatment plan.

Invisalign clear aligners are made of plastic and shaped to your teeth, worn throughout the day and night. As you wear them, the teeth aligners gradually straighten teeth and move your teeth to their desired position, making them better aligned.

Can Invisalign clear aligners be taken out?

As they are totally transparent, most people will not know you are wearing them, and they can be taken out for eating or for drinking hot drinks. They can be worn by adults and teens, with many adults opting for this treatment instead of traditional fixed, visible braces.

The Invisalign transparent aligners are regularly exchanged for a new version, as your teeth slowly change position. It is recommended to wear retainers for as long as possible for maximum results.

Invisalign is often the best option to straighten teeth, which are crooked or misaligned or contain large gaps. Some patients also benefit from Invisalign if they have an overbite, or if they have previously worn braces but their teeth have moved over time.

How long does Invisalign treatment last?

Following the intra-oral scan of your teeth, our Cosmetic Dentist will issue you with your first set of clear aligners to be worn throughout the day and night. You will then book in for further appointments and aim to change the teeth retainers 7 - 14 days, as your teeth move. Eventually, when your teeth have been moved to the correct position, a set of new retainers will be fitted to keep your new smile together complete.

The length of the treatment can vary, depending on your level of teeth misalignment. Generally, it takes between three to nine months to perfect your smile.
