The Dental Implant Procedure Overview

  • When you visit our dentists for a smile consultation they will carry out a thorough assessment to assess your suitability.

  • This includes a CT bone density scan, measuring the density, width and depth of your jawbone. You will also be given a further x-ray review to check all is in order before signing our consent to treatment form.

  • Anaesthetic and sedation solutions are available to ensure the treatment remains relatively painless.

  • You will wake up an hour or so later with the implants already in.

  • A few hours later, we will fit your bridge to the implants and the day’s treatment will be complete. You will be able to resume normal activities within a day or so.

  • After approximately 10-14 days your stitches (if any) are removed and you can start eating soft solid foods; after about eight weeks you can eat normally.

  • Approximately three-four months later we will fit your final zirconia bridge which is fitted on a titanium bar. This is the highest quality material and provides the best success rate of any material on the market today.

  • Twice a year it is essential to have a check-up and visit our hygienist to ensure the long-term success of your implants.

All on 4 - The Best Denture Replacement

All-on-4 implants, or' same-day teeth' implants, have raised the technology to the highest level. The All-On-4 technique, or "smile in a day," negates the need to spend months healing without any teeth.

It is a long-term tooth replacement option for people who have lost or are losing all their teeth. The surgery involves the removal of any remaining teeth and between four and six implants are placed directly into the jaw bone. These are then used to support a complete fixed arch of prosthetic teeth, in our case we use Zirconium (Zirconia) for the final prosthetic. This is all completed in a day and you leave the surgery with your first set of teeth in place.

Understandably, most people don't like living with loose and missing tooth or teeth, so dental implants are a common choice for people who want to get their smile back.

There are other options like dentures however it is common practice that any remaining teeth are used to anchor dentures and this can place undue force and pressure on them, severely compromising any remaining teeth you might have, making your situation worse. That's why if you have 6 or fewer natural teeth left in either your lower jaw, upper jaw or both, we would highly recommend implants.

Our state-of-the-art southern implants are anchored directly into your jawbone and act as tooth roots. Over time, the bone tissue at the missing tooth site fuses with the implant in a process known as osseointegration. This creates a rock-solid foundation upon which to attach a crown, or in this case, to become one of a small group of dental implants supporting an entire Prettau Bridge – the most lifelike and durable full-jaw reconstruction, bar none!

Do I need a bone graft or sinus lift?

If your jawbone isn’t thick enough, a bone graft or augmentation may be required. Depending on your needs, this could take place before or during your full jaw implant procedure. During your free clinical assessment our specialist surgeon will let you know if bone augmentation is required and talk through your treatment options. We know the procedure may sound daunting, but it’s fairly common and our specialist team will support you through the entire process.

Do you use veneer?

No, we only use the highest quality Zirconium for our final full arch prosthetic.

How do I look after my dental implants?
